Darling Brew Craft Beer Pop-Up Stand
Briefed with the task of designing a pop-up stand for a brand of choice for the local Free State Art Festival. Limited the 3 x 6m for transport of the stand, the design explored how to maximize floor space as well as porosity of threshold through efficient design.
Reizes Square Living Units - Bloemfontein
Creating a micro community within the larger society. Reizes Square units explored how the in-between spaces within a gated complex can allow and encourage interaction between inhabitants of the complex.
Kindergarten - Soul City, Kimberley
Throughout South Africa, poverty and homelessness is a major issue which touches even the lives of the young children of the country. In the township of Soul City, Kimberley, a woman aimed to assist these children in a small informal kindergarten. Briefed with designing a non-intrusive kindergarten with local accessible materials, the building was designed to use local rammed earth walls as a primary structure.
Performance Pavilion [Steel Structure] - Bloemfontein
The conflict between natural and materialistic living. The performance pavilion explored organic movement inspired by the contemporary dance performances of Loie Fuller [symbolic of nature] which is contradicted by rigid spaces [symbolic of the materialistic world].
